Terms of Service

By accessing, registering on, browsing, or otherwise using the Alumni Meet platform, website, digital services, or by participating in any alumni-related events, meetings, or activities (online or offline), you acknowledge, confirm, and agree that:

  • You have read and understood these Terms of Service in full
  • You have voluntarily accepted and agreed to be bound by these Terms of Service
  • You are legally competent to enter into this agreement
  • Your use of the platform constitutes a binding agreement between you and the Alumni Meet organizers

These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of the Alumni Meet platform and apply to all users, participants, members, and visitors.
If you do not agree with any part of these Terms of Service, you must discontinue access and use of the platform and participation in alumni activities.

1. Purpose of the Platform

The Alumni Meet platform is established and operated exclusively for the purpose of fostering a trusted, respectful, and collaborative alumni community.
The platform may be used only for the following purposes:

a) Alumni Networking and Engagement

To enable alumni to connect with fellow alumni, maintain relationships, and engage in community-driven interactions that strengthen alumni bonds.

b) Communication Among Alumni and Organizers

To facilitate official communication between alumni and platform organizers, including announcements, notices, invitations, and updates related to alumni events, initiatives, and activities.

c) Community-Building, Collaboration, and Support

To promote collaboration, mentorship, professional guidance, social support, and collective initiatives among alumni for mutual benefit and community development.

d) Dissemination of Official Alumni-Related Information

To share verified and authorized information regarding alumni programs, events, achievements, initiatives, and institutional updates relevant to the alumni community.

Prohibited Use

The platform shall not be used for any purpose unrelated to alumni activities, including but not limited to:

  • Commercial advertising or solicitation
  • Political campaigning or advocacy
  • Unlawful, misleading, or harmful activities
  • Any activity that undermines the integrity, trust, or objectives of the alumni community

Any use of the platform beyond the stated purposes constitutes a violation of these Terms of Service and may result in appropriate action by the organizers.

2. Event Participation & Media Consent

Participation in any alumni event, meeting, reunion, or gathering organized under the Alumni Meet platform, whether conducted online or offline, constitutes your voluntary acknowledgment and acceptance of the following:

a) Acknowledgment of the Privacy Policy

By attending or participating in alumni events, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and accepted the Privacy Policy of the Alumni Meet platform, which governs the collection, processing, storage, and use of personal data.

b) Consent to Photography, Videography & Recording

You expressly consent to:

  • Photography
  • Videography
  • Audio and audio-visual recording

being carried out during alumni events by authorized representatives of the organizers or designated personnel.
Such recordings may include your image, voice, likeness, or presence.

c) Acceptance of Data & Media Usage Practices

You agree that photographs, videos, and recordings captured during events may be used in accordance with the Privacy Policy for the following purposes:

  • Official documentation and reporting
  • Archival and historical records
  • Alumni communications, newsletters, and publications
  • Promotion and awareness of alumni events and activities across official platforms and channels

d) Scope & Limitations of Use

All media usage shall be:

  • Limited strictly to alumni-related purposes
  • Non-commercial in nature
  • Conducted in a respectful, lawful, and non-misleading manner

The platform shall not use such media in any manner inconsistent with alumni values or applicable law.

e) No Separate Consent Requirement

Participation in the event constitutes sufficient consent for the above uses, and no additional or separate consent shall be required unless mandated by law.

3. Acceptable Use & User Responsibilities

All users of the Alumni Meet platform are expected to act in a responsible, respectful, and lawful manner that upholds the integrity, trust, and objectives of the alumni community.

a) User Responsibilities

By using the platform, users agree to:

  • Use the platform solely for its intended alumni-related purposes
  • Conduct themselves in a respectful and professional manner in all interactions
  • Ensure that any information, content, or communication shared on the platform is accurate, truthful, and lawful
  • Respect the privacy, dignity, and rights of fellow alumni, organizers, and participants

b) Prohibited Activities

Users must not, directly or indirectly:

i) Commercial Misuse

  • Use the platform or alumni data for commercial solicitation, advertising, marketing, or profit-driven activities
  • Promote products, services, or businesses without prior written authorization from the organizers

ii) Political Activities

  • Use the platform for political campaigning, lobbying, advocacy, or propaganda
  • Promote political parties, candidates, ideologies, or agendas

iii) Unlawful or Harmful Conduct

  • Engage in any unlawful, fraudulent, defamatory, abusive, threatening, harassing, or harmful behavior
  • Post or share content that is obscene, misleading, offensive, or violates applicable laws

iv) Misuse of Alumni Data

  • Extract, copy, scrape, download, store, or exploit alumni data without authorization
  • Share alumni contact details with third parties
  • Create external databases or mailing lists using alumni data

c) Compliance with Law

Users are required to comply with all applicable laws, including:

  • The Information Technology Act, 2000
  • Data protection obligations under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023

Any violation may result in immediate corrective action.

d) Enforcement

Failure to comply with this clause may lead to:

  • Restriction, suspension, or termination of platform access
  • Removal of content
  • Further action as deemed appropriate by the organizers

4. Protection of Alumni Data

The personal data of alumni is a confidential and protected asset of the Alumni Meet platform. All users are required to handle alumni data responsibly and in accordance with applicable data protection laws and platform policies.

a) Prohibition on Unauthorized Sharing

Users are strictly prohibited from:

  • Sharing, disclosing, forwarding, or transmitting alumni personal data to any unauthorized person, group, or entity
  • Making alumni data available outside the platform without explicit authorization

b) Restriction on Use of Contact Information

Alumni contact information must not be used for:

  • Personal solicitation or outreach
  • Commercial marketing, sales, or advertising
  • Political communication, campaigning, or advocacy

Any use of alumni data beyond platform-approved purposes is expressly forbidden.

c) Ban on External Databases & Data Extraction

Users must not:

  • Create, maintain, or distribute external databases, directories, or mailing lists using alumni data
  • Copy, scrape, download, or systematically extract alumni information from the platform

d) Data Protection Responsibility

Users acknowledge that:

  • Alumni data is shared solely for community and engagement purposes
  • Unauthorized use of such data may result in legal consequences under applicable laws, including the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023

e) Immediate Action & Consequences

Any violation of this clause may result in immediate action, including:

  • Suspension or termination of platform access
  • Removal from alumni events or activities
  • Legal or disciplinary action as deemed appropriate by the organizers

5. Access Restriction & Enforcement

To protect the integrity, security, and objectives of the Alumni Meet platform and its community, the organizers reserve the right to take appropriate enforcement actions where necessary.

a) Rights of the Organizers

The organizers may, at their sole discretion:

  • Restrict, suspend, or permanently terminate a user’s access to the platform
  • Remove, edit, or disable access to any content shared on the platform
  • Restrict participation in alumni events, meetings, or activities
  • Initiate appropriate administrative, corrective, or legal action

b) Grounds for Enforcement Action

Such actions may be taken with or without prior notice in cases including, but not limited to:

  • Violation of these Terms of Service
  • Breach of the Privacy Policy
  • Misuse or unauthorized exploitation of the platform or alumni data
  • Engagement in unlawful, harmful, misleading, or disruptive activities
  • Any conduct that may damage the reputation, security, or trust of the alumni community or compromise platform integrity

c) No Waiver of Rights

Failure by the organizers to enforce any provision of these Terms of Service at any time shall not be construed as a waiver of the right to enforce such provision in the future.

d) Continuity of Obligations

Termination or restriction of access does not relieve users of:

  • Obligations relating to data protection
  • Confidentiality duties
  • Legal responsibilities arising from prior actions

e) Fair Use & Proportionality

While the organizers aim to act fairly and proportionately, they retain full authority to take swift action where required to safeguard the platform and alumni community.

6. Limitation of Liability

The Alumni Meet platform is provided on a best-effort and as-available basis for the benefit of the alumni community. While reasonable care is taken in operating and maintaining the platform, certain limitations apply.

a) User-Generated Content & Interactions

The platform and its organizers shall not be responsible or liable for:

  • Content, statements, opinions, or information shared by users
  • Interactions, communications, or disputes between alumni or participants

All user-generated content is the sole responsibility of the individual user who posts or shares it.

b) Unauthorized Third-Party Use

The platform and its organizers shall not be liable for:

  • Any loss, damage, or harm arising from unauthorized access to or use of the platform by third parties
  • Misuse of the platform or alumni data resulting from actions beyond reasonable control

Users are responsible for safeguarding their access credentials and personal information.

c) Technical & Operational Issues

The platform and its organizers shall not be held liable for:

  • Temporary unavailability, interruptions, or delays in access due to technical failures
  • Maintenance activities, system upgrades, or infrastructure issues
  • Events beyond reasonable control, including force majeure circumstances

d) No Guarantee of Outcomes

The platform does not guarantee:

  • Continuous, uninterrupted, or error-free operation
  • Specific outcomes from alumni interactions, networking, or engagements

e) Legal Limitation

Nothing in this clause limits liability to the extent prohibited under applicable Indian law.
Where liability cannot be excluded, it shall be limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

7. Governing Law & Jurisdiction

These Terms of Service, along with the Privacy Policy and any related platform guidelines, shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India, without regard to conflict of law principles.

a) Applicable Law

All matters relating to:

  • Access to or use of the Alumni Meet platform
  • Participation in alumni events or activities
  • Interpretation, validity, and enforcement of these Terms of Service

shall be subject to and interpreted under the applicable laws of India.

b) Jurisdiction

Any dispute, claim, or legal proceeding arising out of or relating to:

  • These Terms of Service
  • The Privacy Policy
  • Use of the platform or participation in alumni activities

shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts in India.

c) Jurisdictional Clarity

Users agree that:

  • No other court or forum shall have concurrent jurisdiction
  • Legal proceedings shall be instituted only before courts having jurisdiction within India

8. Amendments to Terms

The organizers reserve the right to modify, amend, or update these Terms of Service at any time to reflect:

  • Changes in applicable laws or regulatory requirements
  • Operational, administrative, or technological updates to the Alumni Meet platform
  • Enhancements to platform policies, security measures, or community guidelines

a) Notification of Amendments

Wherever reasonably practicable:

  • Material changes to the Terms of Service will be communicated through the official platform, website, or alumni communication channels
  • The updated Terms of Service will be made available with a revised effective date

b) Acceptance Through Continued Use

Your continued access to or use of the Alumni Meet platform, participation in alumni events, or engagement with platform services after any amendments have been made shall constitute your deemed acceptance of the revised Terms of Service.
If you do not agree with the amended terms, you may discontinue use of the platform and participation in alumni activities.

c) Transparency Commitment

The organizers are committed to maintaining transparency and encourage users to review the Terms of Service periodically to remain informed of any updates.

Final Note

These Terms of Service are to be read together with the Privacy Policy of the Alumni Meet platform. Both documents form an integral part of the agreement governing your access to and use of the platform and participation in alumni-related activities.

In the event of any inconsistency, conflict, or ambiguity between these Terms of Service and the Privacy Policy, the provisions of the Privacy Policy shall prevail to the extent of matters relating to:

  • Collection of personal data
  • Processing, storage, and use of personal data
  • Data protection, privacy rights, and consent

All other matters shall continue to be governed by these Terms of Service.
